چکیده

In order to have highly flexible secondary beamlines collimation is crucial. Collimators are blocks of material placed along the beamline that let main beam pass within collimator aperture limits, while most particles beyond it interact in and gets absorbed or loses enough energy be deflected away from core by magnets downstream. Some can at edge collimators accepted beam, creating background for experiments The thickness layer contributing this potential called Skin Depth. It depends on collimator, momentum as well acceptance terms band divergence. This article presents first studies with GEANT4 FLUKA based simulations effects such interactions CERN beamlines.

Muon-induced neutron production and detection with GEANT4 and FLUKA

We report on a comparison study of the Monte Carlo packages GEANT4 and FLUKA for simulating neutron production by muons penetrating deep underground. GEANT4 is found to generate fewer neutrons at muon energies above ∼100 GeV, by at most a factor of 2 in some materials, which we attribute mainly to lower neutron production in hadronic cascades. As a practical case study, the muon-induced neutron...

Distributions of secondary particles in proton and carbon-ion therapy: a comparison between GATE/Geant4 and FLUKA Monte Carlo codes.

Monte Carlo simulations play a crucial role for in-vivo treatment monitoring based on PET and prompt gamma imaging in proton and carbon-ion therapies. The accuracy of the nuclear fragmentation models implemented in these codes might affect the quality of the treatment verification. In this paper, we investigate the nuclear models implemented in GATE/Geant4 and FLUKA by comparing the angular and...

12C beams: experiments and FLUKA simulations for homogeneous targets

16O and 12C ion beams will be used—besides lighter ions—for cancer treatment at the Heidelberg Ion Therapy Center (HIT), Germany. It is planned to monitor the treatment by means of in-beam positron emission tomography (PET) as it is done for therapy with 12C beams at the experimental facility at the Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung (GSI), Darmstadt, Germany. To enable PET also for 16O beam...

Validation of Geant4 and Fluka Hadronic Physics with Pixel Test-Beam Data

In this note we present an update of the validation of Geant4 hadronic physics against the ATLAS pixel 2001 test-beam data. Furthermore, we also report the comparison with Fluka simulation, using the same Geant4 geometry, navigation and digitization.

Retirement Incentives in Belgium: Estimations and Simulations Using SHARE Data

Retirement Incentives in Belgium: Estimations and Simulations Using SHARE Data The paper studies retirement behavior of wage‐earners in Belgium – for the first time using rich survey data to explore retirement incentives as faced by individuals. Specifically, we use SHARE data to estimate a model à la Stock and Wise (1990). Exploring the longitudinal nature of SHARELIFE, we construct measures o...
